Paraguay: Pierre Jubinville is consecrated Bishop

Rev. Fr. Pierre Jubinville, the former 1st Assistant of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, was consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle (Paraguay) on Saturday last, 21st December, 2013 at 10.00am in the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle. At the conclusion of his episcopal consecration, the new bishop took canonical possession of the Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle of which he is now pastor. The consecration was presided over by Bishop Adalberto Martínez Flores, Bishop to the Armed Forces and National Police, with the assistance of Bishop Oscar Pάez Garcete, Bishop emeritus of Alto Paranά and Mons Claudio Gimenez, Bishop of Caacupé and President of the Paraguayan Bishop’s Conference. Bishops Flores and Garcete were the 1st and 3rd Bishops respectively of the Diocese of St. Peter the Apostle. Other Bishops from the Paraguayan Bishop’s Conference also participated in the celebration as well as many priests, religious and lay people. The Superior General, Fr. John Fogarty was represented by Fr. Serge Hogue (Superior of the Generalate Community) and Fr. José Lopes de Sousa, the General Bursar.
