Love for the World

The proclamation of the Gospel is above all a witness of the love of God at work in this world. The suffering of people is shared by Christ and all those who are trying to follow him. Without this practical union with Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life, the missionary community would be trying to witness with its own human resources, a witness that would accomplish nothing.

Our Spiritan Rule of Life reminds us that we are “set apart” to respond creatively to the needs of evangelization of our time, living with those peoples, groups and individuals who have not yet heard the message of the Gospel.

In taking on new commitments in Asia and Africa, we are trying to share in Fr. Libermann’s unshakable trust in divine Providence:

So far, we have kept closely to the way of divine Providence; this alone has guided us. I have never been able to fulfil a plan that was born of my own dreams; but I have always been successful, as if by magic, when I allowed myself to be led by Providence, surrounded by crosses and sufferings.
